One erratic gunshot into the bleak New England woods pushes Brian, rebellious and angry, into Melanie, the beautiful, older woman next door who oil paints and cares for her pumpkin patch. After the accidental death of his father, Brian's anger pushes him to thoughts of suicide as well as a desire to hurt others in order to make someone pay for his loss. Their chance encounter leads them into an unexpected comfort in an uncomfortable attraction. Melanie is bewildered by his inarticulate, unpredictable rage and Brian is bewildered by her optimistic platitudes. Inspired in part by the high school shootings of our cultures recent past.
